You've found the perfect bauble.
You've chosen the glitter colour.
You've decided who it's for.
And then you reach that little box on the order page:
βPersonalisationβ
Suddenly, your mind goes completely blank.
What should you actually put on it?
A name? A date? Merry Christmas? The year? Should you mention who it's from? Is it too much? Is it not enough?
After making personalised Christmas baubles since 2013, I've seen thousands of different messages come through my workshop β from traditional names and dates to wonderfully personal little phrases.
So if you're struggling for inspiration, I've put together some of my favourite ideas.
And the most important thing to remember?
There really isn't a right answer.
The best wording is simply the wording that means something to you.
Sometimes, simple really is best
Let's start with the easiest option.
A name and a year.
That's it.
For example:
Sophie
Christmas 2026
or simply:
Sophie
2026
It might not seem particularly elaborate today, but give it ten years.
Suddenly, that date becomes part of the charm.
There's something lovely about unpacking a decoration and immediately knowing exactly which Christmas it came from.
And if you're giving personalised baubles to several members of the family, matching name baubles can look beautiful together on the tree.
Baby's First Christmas πΆ
A baby's first Christmas is one of the most popular reasons to give a personalised bauble β and there are lots of ways to word it.
Some lovely options include:
1. Amelia's First Christmas 2026
2. Baby Amelia's First Christmas
3. My First Christmas 2026
4. Amelia β Christmas 2026
5. Our Little Christmas Miracle
6. First Christmas as a Family of Three
7. The Best Gift of 2026
8. Our First Christmas With Amelia
You could also include birth details such as:
Amelia Rose
12th August 2026
7lb 4oz
That turns the decoration into a little record of their arrival as well as their first Christmas.
Our First Christmas Together β€οΈ
Whether you've just started dating or this is simply the first Christmas you've officially decided deserves commemorating, a couples' bauble can be as romantic or understated as you like.
Try:
9. Georgina & Adam β Our First Christmas 2026
10. Our First Christmas Together
11. Christmas 2026 β The Beginning of Forever
12. Our First Christmas β Many More to Come
13. You, Me & Christmas
14. All I Want for Christmas Is You
15. Our Christmas Story Began in 2026
Or simply your two names and the year.
Sometimes that's all you need.
Engagement Bauble Ideas π
If someone has said YES! this year, Christmas gives you another excuse to celebrate.
Some wording ideas:
16. Our First Christmas Engaged
17. Future Mr & Mrs β Christmas 2026
18. She Said Yes! β Christmas 2026
19. Engaged 2026
20. The Christmas We Got Engaged
21. One Christmas Closer to βI Doβ
You can also add the engagement date underneath the names.
Years later, it's a lovely little reminder of that ridiculously exciting period between engagement and wedding.
First Christmas Married π
Your wedding might have been the biggest day of the year β but then comes your first Christmas as a married couple.
Popular options include:
22. Our First Christmas as Mr & Mrs
23. Mr & Mrs Smith β First Christmas 2026
24. Our First Married Christmas
25. Just Married β Christmas 2026
26. First Christmas as Husband & Wife
27. Married 2026 β Our First Christmas
And, of course, the wording doesn't have to be Mr & Mrs.
The important thing is that it reflects you.
New Home Bauble Ideas π‘
There's something particularly lovely about putting up the Christmas tree in a new home for the first time.
You've finally unpacked enough boxes to find the decorations β hopefully.
Mark the occasion with:
28. Our First Christmas in Our New Home
29. First Christmas at No. 24
30. Home Sweet Home β Christmas 2026
31. Christmas in Our New Home
32. New Home, New Memories β 2026
33. Our First Christmas Here
34. The Smith Family β Our New Home 2026
You could even use the house name if you have one.
I love that idea because if you move years later, the bauble remains attached to that particular home and that chapter of your life.
Family Christmas Bauble Ideas π¨π©π§π¦
Family baubles can be wonderfully simple.
Try:
35. The Smith Family β Christmas 2026
36. Christmas at the Smiths
37. Our Family Christmas 2026
38. Together Is Our Favourite Place to Be
39. Making Memories β Christmas 2026
40. Home Is Wherever We're Together
Or include everybody's individual names.
Mum β’ Dad β’ Sophie β’ Jack β’ Milo
Yes, Milo the dog absolutely counts.
Christmas With Our Pets πΎ
Speaking of Miloβ¦
Pets deserve Christmas decorations too.
At least, that's what they'd tell us if they could place their own orders.
Some ideas include:
41. Milo's First Christmas
42. Santa Paws Is Coming
43. Milo β Christmas 2026
44. Our First Christmas With Milo
45. Officially on Santa Paws' Nice List
46. Christmas Is Better With Paw Prints
For a pet remembrance bauble, you might prefer something much simpler:
Milo
Forever in Our Hearts
Sometimes fewer words say much more.
For Grandparents β€οΈ
Personalised baubles also make lovely gifts from grandchildren.
You could choose:
47. Nanny's Little Christmas Star
48. Grandad β Loved More Than Christmas Dinner
49. Our Wonderful Nan β Christmas 2026
50. Grandma & Grandad β Christmas 2026
51. Christmas at Nanny & Grandad's
52. Best Grandparents Ever
Or add the grandchildren's names underneath.
That makes the bauble particularly lovely when more grandchildren arrive over the years and the collection grows with them.
For Teachers π
A personalised Christmas bauble can also be a lovely teacher gift because it isn't another mug.
Although, to be fair, teachers probably deserve the mug and something considerably stronger inside it by December. π
Try:
53. Mrs Taylor β Christmas 2026
54. Best Teacher Ever
55. Thank You for Helping Me Grow
56. Teaching Is a Work of Heart
57. Merry Christmas Mrs Taylor β Love Sophie
58. Thank You for a Wonderful Year
Adding the child's name can make a simple teacher bauble feel much more personal.
Friendship Bauble Ideas β¨
Christmas isn't only about family and couples.
Sometimes the people who know us best aren't related to us at all.
For your best friend:
59. Friends Are the Family We Choose
60. Partners in Christmas Crime
61. Besties β Christmas 2026
62. Another Year of Putting Up With Me
63. Life Is Better With Friends Like You
64. Our Friendship Is My Favourite Gift
Or add an inside joke that means absolutely nothing to anybody except the two of you.
Those are often the best personalised gifts of all.
Anniversary Bauble Ideas π
If you're celebrating a milestone anniversary during 2026, Christmas is a lovely opportunity to mark it.
For example:
65. 25 Wonderful Years
66. Our Silver Anniversary 2026
67. 40 Years Together
68. Ruby Anniversary β 1986β2026
69. Still Making Memories After 50 Years
70. 50 Christmases Together
You could also include your wedding date rather than simply the anniversary year.
That makes it feel even more personal.
Memorial and Remembrance Baubles π€
These are some of the most meaningful baubles I make.
And when it comes to remembrance wording, I usually think simple is beautiful.
You don't need to fill every available space.
A name can be enough.
Some ideas include:
71. Dad β Forever in Our Hearts
72. Christmas in Heaven
73. Always Loved, Never Forgotten
74. Those We Love Don't Go Away
75. Forever Part of Our Christmas
76. Your Wings Were Ready, Our Hearts Were Not
77. A Special Place at Our Christmas Tree
78. Always With Us at Christmas
You could also add years or a significant date.
The right wording is incredibly personal here, so choose whatever feels most comforting to you.
Hobbies, interests and occupations
Not every personalised bauble needs an emotional message.
Sometimes the whole point is:
βThis couldn't possibly belong to anyone except you.β
For someone who loves gardening:
I'd Rather Be in the Garden
For a reader:
Just One More Chapter
For someone who knits:
Eat. Sleep. Knit. Repeat.
For a baker:
Christmas Calories Don't Count
For someone train-mad:
All Aboard for Christmas
For a photographer:
Making Memories β Christmas 2026
This is where you can really have fun with personalisation.
What if you want something completely different?
Please don't feel as though you have to use the wording shown in a product photograph.
One of my favourite things about personalised products is seeing what you come up with.
Perhaps you have a family phrase.
A nickname.
A joke.
A saying somebody always uses.
A date nobody else would understand.
Those little details often make the most meaningful gifts because they couldn't have been bought for anybody else.
If the wording will physically work with the design, I'm always happy to personalise something to make it yours.
Should you include the year?
This is something customers sometimes wonder about.
Personally?
I love a year on a Christmas bauble.
You might think you'll remember exactly when something happened.
Trust me.
Twenty Christmases from now, you may be very grateful that somebody had the foresight to put 2026 on it.
Dates transform decorations into little historical markers.
You immediately know:
That was the year we moved.
That was the year we got married.
That was her first Christmas.
That was when we got the dog.
And that's exactly what makes unpacking old Christmas decorations so special.
Don't try to write an essay on a bauble
This is perhaps the most practical advice I can give you.
I love personalisation.
I love meaningful messages.
But an 80mm Christmas bauble is not a greetings card. π
You don't need to fit your entire emotional journey onto it.
Usually, shorter wording looks better and is easier to read.
Think:
Name
Occasion
Year
Then let the bauble itself do the rest.
If you're struggling between a long message and something simple, I'd usually choose simple.
Ask yourself one question
If you're still staring at that personalisation box wondering what to type, ask yourself:
βWhat do I want this bauble to remind them of in ten years?β
Suddenly, the answer becomes much easier.
Maybe it's:
Our First Christmas 2026
Maybe it's:
Baby Elsie's First Christmas
Maybe it's:
Dad β Forever Part of Christmas
Or perhaps it's simply:
Nanny
There doesn't need to be a clever quote.
There doesn't need to be a perfect Pinterest-worthy phrase.
It just needs to mean something to you.
Your words make the bauble yours π
When I begin making one of my personalised glitter baubles, it's just a bauble.
Then I add the colour.
The design.
Your wording.
Your names.
Your date.
Your ribbons.
And suddenly it belongs to somebody.
That's the bit of personalisation I love most.
Because years from now, when somebody pulls it out of their Christmas box, they probably won't remember what website it came from or what day it was ordered.
They'll remember why it was bought.
And that's exactly how a little Christmas decoration becomes a keepsake.
So don't worry too much about finding the perfect words.
Choose the ones that tell your story.
I'll take care of the glitter.
